Cyber resilience in NSW needs “urgent attention”, according to a new report.

An annual audit of the state’s central agencies, has reviewed self-assessments against the state’s baseline for cyber security.

All agencies are required to implement the Essential Eight - a series of baseline cyber security mitigation strategies.

However, almost two years after self-assessment requirements were introduced, an audit has found “limited progress” with the implementation of the Essential Eight.

“NSW government agency self-assessment results show that the NSW public sector’s cyber security resilience needs urgent attention,” the report states.
