The Australian arm of British technology media outlet The Register has posted an entry on crowdsourcing site Pozible inviting Australians to help fund a detailed implementation study into the NBN.

The Register says it believes debate on the NBN does not offer Australians useful information. With an election coming up, they say they want an independent study to answer major  NBN questions.

Organisers are crowdfunding the study to give Australians a chance to show their interest in the large-scale investment.  The study would see collaboration from respected analyst firms IBRS and Market Clarity to create a report clarifying essential elements of Australia’s broadband network.

There have already been several studies conducted into the NBN. Just months from the Federal Election both sides of politics are fixed on their existing NBN policies, so it is unclear how accepting either side would be of a independently funded and controlled report.
