Federal Government departments are working to improve the much maligned myGov system.

The Department of Human Services (DHS) runs myGov, and has teamed up with the Digital Transformation Agency and the Australian Taxation Office to deliver a revamped site.

DHS says 242,000 people now log in to myGov every day.

Users report difficulties in finding services and understanding instructions on how to use the site, and complain that it is too easy to get locked out of the site.

But that could change, with the release of a new-look myGov portal, which is designed to allow simpler navigation, better usability on mobile devices, and the option for users to unlock their own suspended accounts.

Content on the new site is clearer and simpler as well.

The agencies behind myGov will monitor user activity for the next four weeks to see if the changes are successful, and potentially respond to any “unforeseen events or user needs”.
