Employment demand across the information media and telecommunications sector is set to increase by 6.0% over the coming five years according to the Australian Jobs 2011 report published by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).

The report found that while the industry suffered a decline of 9.9%, or 23,700 jobs, over the 2005 – 2010 period, the next five year period will see a steady increase of up to 13,000 jobs, or 6.0%.

The sector currently employs over 215,000 people throughout the country, the majority of which works full-time (80%).
