Hewlett-Packard (HP) has announced that it will invest in a multi-million dollar Next Generation Data Centre in Eastern Creek, Western Sydney, expected to open later this year.

HP’s facility will provide organisations with the infrastructure they need for cloud computing services, application modernisation and data centre transformation. It will also provide IT resources to help organisations simplify applications and improve business process while increasing operational efficiency and reliability.

The facility will feature:

  • An architecture based on HP Converged Infrastructure  that integrates server, storage, networking and management resources into a modular and adaptable design.
  • Support for variable power and cooling densities to manage computing requirements with high energy efficiency.
  • The HP Carbon Emissions Management Service, an assessment service that helps organisations calculate energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions emanating from the use of IT.
  • Automated management built on HP’s software tools.

The investment is part of HP’s US$1 billion program to retire legacy assets and build new, modernised facilities.

HP said it is expanding its commitment to Australia as it is home to one of the world’s top 10 financial centres and a growing base for multinational companies.

Vice President of Enterprise Services, HP South Pacific, David Caspari said, "Having a sustainable infrastructure that combines a modern platform with the services capability of HP Enterprise Services means organisations can concentrate more on their business and less on managing their IT."
