The NBN Co has announced it will be handing Service Stream full responsibility for its call centre service. Service Stream, which has operated call centres for ACMA and DBCDE's Digital Ready Hotline for advice on the switchover to digital TV,  is a telecom and utilities industries infrastructure design and management firm.

Service Stream has been awarded the responsibilities after a six month tender process released  by the NBN Co for the call service requirements, for which eight  companies applied.

The centre is to be staffed by a team of 12, but is expected to grow as the NBN scheme expands operations throughout the country.

NBN Co General Manager of External Affairs, Trent Williams, said the new contact centre will become the management centre for all inbound calls and queries about the National Broadband Network.

”NBN Co, as a wholesale network provider, will not be selling services directly to the public, but there is a growing interest in the rollout, how the technology operates and what it will mean for homes and businesses right across the country. We expect this will increase as the rollout widens to more areas. The

call centre will help address the community’s information needs,” Mr Williams said.
