NICTA has appointed senior ICT industry expert Dr Bruce McCabe to drive its cloud computing business strategy. Dr McCabe most recently served as Director, Innovation at KPMG, having previously run an industry innovation consultancy, S2 Intelligence.

 

Commenting on the opportunities and challenges of cloud computing, Dr McCabe said that government agencies and larger enterprises in particular faced a range of issues.

 

“The cloud is now changing every aspect of how we think about software, but along with the enormous potential benefits come new challenges, especially for larger enterprises and government agencies,” he said.

 

“NICTA is at the forefront of developing technologies to not only capitalise on the opportunities but also tackle the thorny issues, like data security, resilience, and cost optimisation.”

NICTA’s  Director of Broadband and Digital Economy, Dr Terry Percival said that Dr McCabe was “well known for his understanding of the future of business, in particular how information technology will transform industry, organisations and work.”

 

“This places him in a strong position to maximise the commercial impact of the cloud technologies being developed at NICTA by some of the world’s best researchers.”
