ICT companies have been invited by the NSW Government to register for a pitching and networking event in Sydney on 8 December to help form consortiums for the Government's $1 million Collaborative Solutions Mobile Government program.

The program, being delivered by NSW Trade & Investment, will help fund industry consortiums to develop new mobile technology solutions to improve the effectiveness of government services and help build the State's digital economy.

A Mobile Government program briefing on 17 November was attended by over 150 industry representatives, with presentations available at www.business.nsw.gov.au/collaborativesolutions.

An industry networking and pitching event will now be held on Thursday 8 December at the NSW Trade and Investment Centre in Martin Place to help facilitate introductions, encourage ideas, and assist the formation of working consortiums for the Mobile Government program.

There are 24 pitching spots available at the networking and pitching event with priority to be given to businesses with great innovative mobile technology ideas and a mix of industry presentations, from start-ups to multinationals and research bodies.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment Andrew Stoner said that the Collaborative Solutions Mobile Government program will support the development of innovative and new-to-market solutions with broad market and export appeal.

"Mobile Government will focus on the use of mobile and wireless solutions to improve public-sector productivity, with solutions to be piloted within the NSW Department of Trade & Investment," Mr Stoner said.

"The target audience for grants includes mobile application developers, technology providers, service providers, device manufacturers, research organisations, and user organisations within the department."

Grant applications opened on 17 November 2011 and close at noon on 29 February 2012 after which they will be assessed. Shortlisted applicants will be notified in March 2012 to present to an evaluation committee with grant recipients announced in April 2012.
