Global consultancy firm Analysis Mason has released the findings of its report into the National Broadband Network, praising the $36 billion project for anticipating an expected massive spike in data demand in the coming decades.

 

The report forecasts a ten-fold increase in use demand for broadband speeds over the coming decades, finding that demand will reach gigabit speeds by 2030.

 

Commissioned by the NBN Co, the report was submitted to the ACCC.

 

The analysis of the NBN CO’s fibre and fixed wireless network design in the report focuses on the company’s technology, architectural and infrastructure choices, concluding that prudent choices have been made to cater for the future demand of speeds up to 90 Mbps by 2015, and the expected exponential growth thereafter.

 

The report praises the scalability of the planned infrastructure, finding that the NBN Co will be able to cater for the growth in demand for higher speed in the coming decades.
