Expedia's CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has been hired as Uber’s new CEO.

Uber has been looking to replace ousted CEO and company co-founder Travis Kalanick, who left amid a storm of allegations of sexual harassment and bullying of employees, deceit and corporate espionage.

Mr Khosrowshahi has been running Expedia since August 2015, as it has become one of the largest online travel companies in the world.

His next challenge will be to change Uber's allegedly toxic culture.

There are other spots open at the top of the ride-sharing firm, with a number of senior members of Uber's team, including president Jeff Jones, having quit this year.

Uber had previously announced it was looking for a new chief operating officer with a background in diversity and inclusion.
