The Victorian Government has welcomed the decision by China-based IT services and outsourcing specialist, VanceInfo, to upgrade its Melbourne headquarters.

 

State Technology Minister, Gordon Rich-Phillips, said the move by he company is estimated to create 60 new jobs for the state.

 

Mr Rich-Phillips said over the next two years the company was seeking to hire 60 new project managers, business analysts, developers and architects in mobile, online and cloud computing.

 

“The company’s decision to expand its Australian and New Zealand headquarters in Melbourne means it will have 200 employees in Victoria by 2014.

 

“The expansion is indicative of the strong relationship Victoria has with China and reaffirms the strength of our local industry and our highly skilled ICT workforce,” Mr Rich-Phillips said.

 

“VanceInfo has grown significantly in Victoria since announcing last year it would create 100 new jobs by establishing its Australian and New Zealand headquarters in Melbourne.”

 

VanceInfo’s Managing Director Victor Li said he was pleased to confirm the company’s commitment and progress in achieving this growth of jobs.

 

“The commitment of such a large and growing global firm demonstrates the attractiveness of Victoria as one of the key centres for commerce in Australia,” Mr Li said.
