Senior Technical Officer - Communications Group, Potts Hill
The Senior Technical Officer provides design and development assistance to support product development and operational activities within the NSW Police Force.
Key accountabilities
Design and manage set-up activities for ICT devices, and systems and monitor their performance to limit or prevent loss of service to end users.
Provide engineering expertise to support the business unit's research and development of technical systems and equipment.
Create and maintain support documentation to assist others in restoring services and reduce the impact of unplanned outages.
Liaise with project clients and provide professional advice and technical assistance as required.
Implement allocated jobs as directed and ensure work is tracked accurately via the business unit's job database.
Assist other technical officers to coordinate and provide technical support to specialist and operational commands and business units and to designate covert evidence gathering areas.
Assist with the maintenance of safety standards and risk minimisation of all activities within the business unit's workshop.
Utilise appropriate tools and methods to address user support queries and return the users technical equipment, systems and network to optimum efficiency.
Key challenges
Keep abreast of continuously evolving and complex technological advancements.
Work on complex projects ensuring client expectations are met in relation to performance, timeliness and cost.
Learn and use specialised computer software and/or hardware relevant to the role.

hold a current driver’s licence with no traffic offences recorded on their driving history within the last six (6) months or NSW Police Force Bronze Certification;
have tertiary qualifications in electronics and/or communications technology or equivalent industry experience and;
have experience in developing solutions and/or the use of computer software for prototype in-house design and cabling of rack systems, testing and commissioning of custom installations
