The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is one of the world's largest, and most highly regarded community based emergency services organisations. We respond to fire and other emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whilst our firefighters are the cornerstone of CFA services, what goes on behind the scenes is just as important in helping to protect lives and property.

The Manager Insights and Analytics will provide leadership and management to a small team of business analysts that deliver analytical support and data-driven insights to all aspects of CFA’s business. This role must ensure appropriate and efficient data analyses to contribute to the evidence needed for intelligent decision making including, but not limited to, performance monitoring, business and service delivery planning, strategy development and assessment as well as business cases preparation.

The role will work collaboratively with management and stakeholders at various levels of the organisation to provide expert advice on analytical methods and the interpretation and presentation of insights. 

The incumbent will broker collaboration amongst analysts, who may reside in different teams across the organisation, in combination with guidance in the appropriate application of methods, techniques and tools to drive more useful and powerful analyses.

The successful applicant will have:

• Degree or Master’s Degree qualified in a quantitative area such as Analytics, Math, Statistics or Data Science
• Extensive professional experience in an advanced analytics role
• Proven people management and leadership of an analytical function
• Proficiency in at least one of the following analytical programming languages: SAS, R and Python
• Experience in the use of data visualization software, such as Tableau or QlikSense
• Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS), including GIS data structures and the ability to incorporate GIS data and modelling into data analysis problems
