About the opportunity 

As part of the Research Data Operations team within the Research Portfolio, the main purpose of the position is to lead a specialist team responsible for coordinating data quality initiatives. Through the effective use of project and data management tools the role ensures appropriate levels of data governance, quality and accuracy are in place - specifically in connection with the management, collection and reporting of grants and contracts data and external organizational data.

In this position, you will:

  • coordinate the team that supports key stakeholders regarding research data quality, modules, research data elements, data options, data models, outcomes and reporting
  • prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation on research data quality requirements, data quality assurance results and reporting requirements
  • document data quality mitigation strategies and liaise with key stakeholder to reframe technical requirements into business process, training or system enhancements
  • ensure that project status reporting is provided on a regular basis, highlighting progress, challenges and next steps.

  • degree in a related discipline with statistics, data management and manipulation components
  • experience leading a team to implement data quality improvements,
  • experience in establishing policy and controls around systems, processes and training to monitor, measure and improve data quality
  • demonstrated experience in establishing data quality business rules, metrics and controls in a Data Quality Management / Data Audit related field
  • at least 3 years of experience with complex data quality issues and data remediation/data cleansing.

About us

The Project Lead, Research Data Management will be located within the Research Reporting Analytics and Data Systems (RRADS) group, one of six groups within the Research Portfolio that currently support the DVC-R and researchers to achieve the University’s goals. The RRADS group is responsible for providing university wide reports and strategic information on research and research performance, managing government required reporting programmes (ERA, HERDC, SRE), managing data acquisition, coordinates application and system development to support business processes and requirements by developing and managing the data collection, analysis and reporting of the University’s research performance, including external obligations and internal absolute research performance reporting for the Faculty funding model, and coordinating development of business systems to support business requirements.
