About the opportunity 

The Senior Technical Officer - Clinical Imaging is responsible for a range of tasks within Sydney Imaging Core Research Facility (CRF), including a full technical support and expert advice required during procurement, installation, and day-to-day operations of clinical imaging equipments such as MRI, fNIRS, and EEG. Working with vendors, the role provides high-level technical support for neuroscience research, primarily within the Brain and Mind Centre and Charles Perkins Centre.

In this position, you will:

  • provide technical support and expert advice for research projects being carried out in the Sydney Imaging
  • manage the facility workplace ensuring that the research, learning and teaching requirements are met effectively
  • ensure the facility is compliant with Workplace Health and Safety requirements
  • oversee the preparation of reporting and documentation, including ethics reporting, for the facility.

  • tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline and relevant experience in related field. Postgraduate qualifications in MR physics, engineering, computer science, or equivalent
  • experience with different imaging software for human applications of various MRI modalities, such as structural MRI, functional MRI, MR spectroscopy
  • advanced skills on data analysis, using statistical analysis tools, and reporting on research findings
  • sound working knowledge and acute awareness of safety regulations and operating procedures within a facility environment, including experience in working within an MRI environment, and well-rounded experience in implementing safety procedures within a laboratory or facility.

Sydney Imaging includes both Preclinical and Clinical imaging facilities, as well as the Hybrid Theatre. The mission of the Sydney Imaging CRF is to provide core set of state-of-the-art imaging equipment and associated services to researchers.
