Post-Doctoral Research Fellow – Control and Identification of Nonlinear Network Systems

  • Base Salary: $104,155 p.a. - $123,682 p.a. Level B plus leave loading and a generous employer’s contribution to superannuation

 

About the opportunity 

We are seeking a post-doctoral researcher with a strong background in nonlinear system control, identification, network systems, or optimization to join the University of Sydney, Australia. You will work with Dr Guodong Shi on a joint project with co-investigators Dr Jochen Trumpf (Australian National University), Prof Karl Henrik Johansson (KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden), Prof Claudio Altafini (Linkoping University, Sweden), and Prof John Baras (University of Maryland, US) funded by the Australian Research Council. It is also expected that the successful candidate will spend approximately two months working in the research groups of these co-investigators.

The project will see you develop theory and algorithms for the control and identification of nonlinear network systems. Particular areas of investigation will include nonlinear system control, system identification, distributed control of network systems in concert with methods of combinatorial optimisation and convex optimisation.

About you

  • PhD (or soon to be completed) in engineering, applied mathematics, or computer science, with an ability to start by Nov/Dec 2019 at the latest.
  • A research track record, potential or demonstrated, of international standing.
  • Strong mathematical and computational skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise and research experience in nonlinear systems, system identification, distributed control, or optimization.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
