Events and Partnerships Officer - Data61

As the Data61 Events and Partnerships Officer, you will be part of both CSIRO Corporate Affairs and the Data61 communication team.  You will have responsibility for developing and implementing an overarching strategy to grow and nurture Data61’s stakeholder network, including government, corporates, SMEs, universities, board members, start-ups, students, investors and researchers.  You will develop and implement various programs to drive collaboration between stakeholders and promote Data61’s R&D capabilities. 

Managing Data61’s annual conference, D61+LIVE, you will coordinate 2,000+ delegates and 50+ international and local speakers.  Now in its fourth year, D61+LIVE is a two-day forum and exhibition which aims to examine and demonstrate cutting-edge data science and technology that is shaping our industries, experiences and society.  

This role requires a highly organised and creative individual with outstanding communication skills.  The ability to build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at senior levels is critical, as is the ability to implement innovative models for managing events, partnerships and collaborations. 

Your duties will include

  • Work with Data61’s BD&C team to develop a stakeholder growth strategy for Data61.
  • Project manage the delivery of large-scale events.
  • Work with the wider communication team to promote programs and events across a range of channels.
  • Account manage existing partnerships.
  • Help ensure alignment between Data61s communication strategy and the broader Corporate Affairs strategy.
  • Deliver effective communication outcomes applying contemporary communication skills.

Location: Eveleigh (Sydney) New South Wales
Salary: AU $98k to AU $106k per annum, plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure: Approximate 12-month term (ending 31 July, 2020)

To be considered you will hold relevant qualifications in events/business management or similar discipline.  You will also have:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build and maintain excellent collaborative relationships.
  • Experience interacting with a diverse set of stakeholders, including senior business people and government officials.
  • Experience developing and delivering successful events.
  • Highly developed organisational skills, with experience using CRM systems and an ability to quickly gain competence on new technology platforms.
  • The ability to readily adapt to changing circumstances and to operate well with situations that lack clarity.
  • Initiative and flexibility to contribute and work collaboratively across the wider Corporate Affairs function.
