The Position

Data61 are currently seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Fellow to develop minimum viable security and privacy protocols.

You as the successful candidate will play a critical role in developing the Precision Health Data Platform which will transform the way we manage our health. Working with leading Research Scientists or Engineers from decision science, you will develop privacy protocols that make users custodians of their own data to establish trust in data platforms so that data sources (people and health organisations) will feel safer to provide consent. You will also establish trust in data sources to improve utility of the data and improve compliance to achieve faster ethics clearance(s) for data analytics.

CSIRO offers PhD graduates an opportunity to launch their scientific careers through our Postdoctoral Fellowships. These fellowships provide experience that will enhance career prospects and facilitate the development of potential leaders for CSIRO.

Postdoctoral Fellows are appointed for up to three years and will work closely with a leading Research Scientist or Engineer in their respective field. They carry out innovative, impactful research of strategic importance to CSIRO with the possibility of novel and important scientific outcomes. They present the findings in appropriate publications and at conferences.

Your duties/responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out innovative, impactful research of strategic importance to cyber security and precision health, where possible, leading to novel and important scientific outcomes
  • Collaborating with Data61 Research Engineers to develop new platforms for precision health data
  • Delivering high quality scientific papers appropriate for publication in quality journals, for client reports and granting of patents

Location:      Marsfield, NSW
Salary:          AU$82K - AU$93K plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be successful you will need:

  • A doctorate (or will shortly satisfy the requirements of a PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, or a directly related field (such as Cyber Security, Information Technology, Communications, Software Engineering, etc.)  
  • Proven ability conducting high quality research, development and implementation in information security with publications in the top tier security conferences IEEE S&P, ACM CCS, NDSS, Usenix Security, or similar level conferences in other domains.
  • Experience in applying research outcomes in solving practical/industry problems, preferably in the area of data and system security and security automation.
