The Position

As Social Media Advisor, you will work as part of the Editorial and Content team to plan and implement the delivery of CSIRO’s stories across a range of social media and communication platforms including our website, blog, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram.

A digital specialist, you will have a passion for creating compelling content and delivering it across a range of online channels. You will understand audience needs, have a strong news sense and a keen eye for good imagery and design.

Your duties will include

  • Supporting the delivery of CSIRO communication strategies and activities in a fast moving, multi-channel environment including social and rich media. 
  • Developing and coordinating social media campaigns: planning, building and implementing social media strategy.
  • Researching, writing and editing content for external audiences in a variety of formats. 
  • Monitoring and moderating social media, understanding the risks and opportunities inherent in two-way engagement with the community and referring issues to managers where appropriate
  • Analysing metrics and making recommendations based on audience insights and key growth areas.
  • Provide training and advice on digital and social media use across the Corporate Affairs function and to broader groups.

Location: Negotiable - Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra or Brisbane
Salary: AU$82k - AU$93k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be successful you will need

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Communication, PR or Digital/Social.
  • Relevant demonstrated ability to communicate science stories in a social or new media environment.
  • Demonstrated creative and strategic thinking as well as a flexible, adaptive and responsive approach in the ever-changing media environment.
  • Experience in audience measurement and research.
  • High level written and oral communication skills and the ability to adapt to relevant medium and audience
  • The ability to build and maintain excellent collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders that help to achieve positive outcomes.
