The School of Information Technology & Mathematical Sciencesis the largest information and communications technology provider in South Australia with World class research outputs in ICT and mathematics. The School is seeking to appoint an outstanding Professor in Telecommunications with suitable qualifications and experience exemplifying the highest levels of academic performance with an established track record of academic leadership in delivering research and teaching objectives.

The appointment is with one of the School’s research concentrations, the Institute for Telecommunications Research (ITR). ITR’s fundamental and applied research areas, in combination with its facilities and international network, make it one of the leading research bodies in Australia in the area of satellite communications. ITR provides a vibrant research environment for world-class fundamental research, partnered with industry and end-users.

You will contribute to ITR’s mission by building a high-profile research program in one or more areas of satellite communications, wireless communications and optical broadband communications.

As a thought leader in the above domains, and driver of the strategic research direction of ITR, you will be responsible for developing and leading the program of research within and across each area. You will also play a key role in developing national and international research partnerships and networks and you will engage with local and international industry partners.

This is a research and teaching professorial position which will provide you with an exciting and challenging opportunity to lead high-performing research teams and collaborate with researchers from other national and international universities and research entities.
