Senior App Security Specialist

 

Sportsbet is looking for a passionate and experienced Senior App Security Specialist who will work alongside our teams to secure applications and systems in our cloud environments. Focusing on application security, they will take ownership of and direct the implementation of pragmatic, sensible security solutions and processes.

The Team 

The Sportsbet Cybersecurity team is a diverse group of experienced professionals who enjoy the challenge and complexity involved in fast-growing digital organisation. They are passionate about protecting our customer data, take pride in their work, but know how to have fun while doing it. We’re looking for an individual to join the team and contribute in their own style, bringing their unique experiences and skills.

The role 

We’d love an experienced team member to join our team, who will be responsible for upskilling and assisting our teams to build secure products. The role is not about introducing security gates and approval processes, it’s about embedding security into how we work while allowing teams to maintain their autonomy and flexibility.

You won’t be alone, you’ll work side-by-side with the Sportsbet Cybersecurity team, as well as the ability to collaborate with over 60 security practitioners across our global organisation. You will work with leading third-party security organisations, leverage great security technologies and drive our managed bug bounty program. We will be looking to you to help teams build security automation into their processes.

You will be managing complexity and we will expect that you drive our capabilities, direction and outcomes. We are big believers in doing things right, but don’t believe in red-tape. As a result, you’ll need to build networks and strong relationships to become a trusted advisor in the application security space. We will very much see you as an integral leader in this space.

The types of things we’re looking for:

  • You have strong application security experience across threat modelling, security design and security architecture.
  • Experience working with digital businesses, AWS cloud technologies and environments embracing agile and DevOps ways of working.
  • Comfortable working with cross-functional teams of technical and non-technical people.
  • Understanding of technologies and security considerations within digital, mobile/web development and across enterprise environments.
  • Working knowledge of industry good practice including OWASP, PCI-DSS, ISO27001, NIST.

You 

The successful applicant will also be responsible for helping drive the direction of application and product security within Sportsbet, through defining relevant standards and patterns and consulting to teams. The position also involves the need to identify opportunities to establish and take ownership of key cybersecurity initiatives.

  • Strong technical background, with sufficient experience to have become a pragmatic business and risk-focused security advisor
  • Effective communicator (written and oral) who can adapt their style to suit their audience. In particular you must be able to explain difficult cybersecurity concepts in appropriate business language, and vice-versa.
  • Confident at presenting technical solutions in business focused language.
  • Have great judgement to help teams prioritise what is most important and how best to treat risks.
  • Comfortable to mentor other cybersecurity team members and broader technical teams.
  • Excels in fast-moving and dynamic environments.
