Do you have extensive engineering experience in large scale operations and want to contribute to Australia’s Defence and security?

The Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group is a key enabler for the Australian Defence Force through the acquisition and through-life support of military equipment and capability.

With a combined Australian Public Service and military workforce of around 5,000 people, Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group manages the delivery of more than 150 complex projects and over 100 sustainment products, with an annual budget in excess of $12 billion.

We are looking for a person who is:

  • an engineering professional with experience inside large and complex organisations;
  • capable of leading significant and challenging reforms;
  • self-aware, positive in considering and respecting a diversity of ideas and perspectives, and have the courage to challenge the status quo; and
  • capable of leading Australian Public Service, Australian Defence Force and industry personnel.

To be a strong contender, you will be a flexible and collaborative leader who is prepared to take calculated risks. You will be resilient, have proven high level communication skills and be personally accountable for the quality of advice and the delivery of results. The successful applicant will lead an engineering oriented branch in the newly formed Business Management domain within the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group.  As a Branch Head you will practice engineering at a very high level of expertise and exercise the highest level of engineering leadership.

Engagement may be negotiated on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis.  To be eligible, an applicant must be, or intend to become, an Australian citizen.  Applicants must satisfy the requirements for membership of Engineers Australia (Stage 1 Competency of Professional Engineers). This is a security-designated position located inCanberra.
