The Chief Information Officer (CIO) Group is a key component and enabler of the Department of Human Services strategic vision. At the forefront of public sector Information and Communication Technology (ICT) transformation, the CIO Group's vision is to excel in the provision of reliable, accessible and personalised services. The department's technology infrastructure, combined with its deep understanding and experience in delivering complex customer-focused services enables the CIO Group to shape the next generation of community services and lead best practice in service delivery.

The Adelaide Delivery Centre operates under a Professional Services model and comprises three branches; Compliance, Social Services and Professional Services. Under the Professional Services Model our workforce is organised into Practices, with the Practices constructed to respond to the demands placed upon the delivery centre. The Practices are Project Management, Analysis, Design, Development and Quality Assurance.

The Compliance and Social Services applications delivery branches are accountable for the delivery of ICT projects using resources provided from the relevant Practices within the Professional Services branch.

Assistant Directors in the delivery branches support the department by ensuring the high quality and consistent delivery of its program of work. Working under the broad direction of the Applications Delivery Director, they are expected to support delivery of ICT projects and Business as Usual activities.

In performing a leadership role, they undertake strategic planning and drive innovation and changes in workplace practices. They play a key role in developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient delivery of ICT services.

Duties may include some or all of the following:

  • oversee the implementation of ICT deliverables to support programmes administered by the department
  • support capability development through succession planning
  • negotiate, engage and manage relationships with stakeholders to deliver services
  • attend stakeholder meetings and forums to obtain and share information
  • represent the work area or department at forums, including conferences and meetings
  • contribute to strategic planning for ICT business plans
  • provide high-level advice, procedural guidance and interpretation to staff including strategic advice to the Executive where appropriate
  • develop and implement work area plans to meet demands and respond to change, providing strategic directions for work area
  • collaborate and build strong relationships within the CIO Group to support the efficient delivery of services
  • prepare a range of written material including business cases, reports, executive briefs and corporate documentation
  • support innovation and manage and lead change
