Assistant Director-General Technology Engagement

The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is seeking a highly motivated, outcome driven senior executive to fill the position of Assistant Director-General Technology Engagement, based in Canberra ACT.

The position reports directly to the First Assistant Director-General (FADG) Enterprise Technology, works closely with the Director-General and Executive, and is responsible for establishing, shaping and running the Technology Engagement Branch. You will have a demonstrated ability to deliver organisational outcomes in Technology Engagement to ensure the delivery of ICT Capability to ASD, Defence and the National Security Community.  

You will lead a team delivering strategic and operational outcomes to execute ASD’s Enterprise Technology Strategy in collaboration with ADG Technology Foundations and ADG Technology Services. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining ICT Architecture standards for ASD’s Enterprise Technology Foundation and, driving assurance of ASD’s mission and information systems. You will manage strategic industry relationships and co-operatively engage with customers and stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to offer a fresh perspective to current practices in a positive and constructive way in pursuit of strategic alignment, enterprise technology transformation and continuous improvement.

Working with ASD’s senior leadership team, you will be responsible for meeting ASD’s strategic goals and contributing to productively to ASD’s corporate decision-making processes. You will also be responsible for developing and sustaining effective and collaborative relationships with management across ASD and external stakeholders such as Department of Defence, other Government entities, and Industry.  Experience working within the National Intelligence Community is not required.

Additionally, you will have the demonstrated ability to operate in accordance with, and actively promote ASD’s values and the Defence Leadership Behaviours, which will continue to be adopted and implemented within ASD. The remuneration package includes superannuation, an Executive Vehicle allowance and, where applicable, relocation expenses. The salary component for this position may be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Engagement may be negotiated on an ongoing basis or for a specified term. To be eligible for engagement, an applicant must be, or intend to become, a permanent Australian citizen. This is a security-designated position. The successful applicant will be required to undergo security assessments to the highest level and must be able to be cleared to Top Secret Positive Vetting.
