As the Assistant Director-General Protect and Assure you will lead the ASD’s Protect and Assure Branch to deliver the Australian Cyber Security Centre’s (ACSC) vision to make Australia the safest place to connect online.

The successful candidate will report to the First Assistant Director-General Protect, Assure and Enable to steer the Branch responsible for proactively reducing risk and building resilience across Australia’s national cyber security ecosystem. The position will establish the ACSC as Australia’s cyber security ‘centre of excellence‘ through technical advice and assessments, predicting and assessing emerging technology and its impact, and delivering programs that disrupt the adversary and influence stakeholders’ technical cyber security maturity.

The role requires a demonstrated ability to build future organisational capability and anticipate and respond to external drivers which will impact ASD business. Knowledge and experience in the field of cyber security assurance is mandatory. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience leading a technical workforce, and the sound judgment to manage competing requirements in an evolving strategic environment. Project, programme and portfolio (P3) management experience is desirable. At a time of great change and increasing demand for cyber security services, the successful candidate will also have a strong delivery focus with the ability to effectively manage internal and external relationships and expectations of others to achieve outcomes.

The remuneration package includes superannuation, an Executive Vehicle allowance and, where applicable, relocation expenses. The salary component for this position may be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Engagement may be negotiated on an ongoing basis or for a specified term. To be eligible for engagement, an applicant must be, or intend to become, a permanent Australian citizen. This is a security-designated position. The successful applicant will be required to undergo security assessments to the highest level and must be able to be cleared to Top Secret Positive Vetting.
