Oracle Database Administrator

THE ROLE

The Oracle Database Administrator reports to the Development Operations Manager within Business Solutions & Technology. In this role you will be responsible for the administration of DHA’s databases ensuring the security and integrity of all enterprise databases, monitoring of database performance and availability, capacity planning, diagnosis of database faults and the administration of Linux/Unix servers.

Our ideal candidate will have

  • Proven experience in database administration ensuring appropriate database management practices are in place
  • Knowledge of Oracle Database Administration including Recovery Manager (RMAN), Oracle Grid Infrastructure and Data Guard
  • Experience with Oracle upgrades, migrations, database troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
  • Experience in a decentralised Linux/UNIX and Windows environment
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate and collaborate with different stakeholders with varying levels of technical competence
  • Commitment to work within a team environment to deliver business outcomes.

Note: A Negative Vetting Level 1 Security Clearance or the ability to obtain is required for this role.

OPERATING ENVIRONMENT

This is a full-time position. DHA’s core business hours are between 8.30am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday. DHA operates under flexible working hours and staff may be required to work outside core business hours at times.

MAIN DUTIES

1. Assist in all areas of database administration including backups and restores, capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning of databases.

2. Maintain Non-Production and Production environments

3. Install, patch/upgrade and migrate Oracle Database and Enterprise Management software.

4. Assist in all areas of administration of Oracle Solaris and Enterprise Linux servers.

5. Monitor and report on database service availability.
