The Role 

As an APS6 ICT Service Manager, you will be accountable under broad direction to perform and manage complex helpdesk, incident management, communications, applications support and development work within an integrated workforce. You will need to possess or rapidly develop knowledge of and compliance with internal Defence procedures and processes, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements. 

You will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. You will also need to provide detailed ICT service support, technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development. 

The APS6 ICT Service Manager will also be required to engage with a diverse group of stakeholders including Chief Information Officer Group (CIOG), the vendor, civilian, contracted and military personnel to achieve outcomes.

About our Team 

The Directorate of JSSD ICT Delivery delivers enabling ICT functions to support the Directorate of Youth, the Directorate of Reserve and Employer Support and the Australian Defence Force Cadet Organisations. It is also responsible for ICT management including the sustainment and development of key applications that support the ADF Cadet Program and the Reserve capability. The team is also responsible for program level ICT planning aligned with the JSSD and Joint Capabilities Group (JCG) Business plans, the Defence Corporate Plan, policy and governance board priorities.

 JSSD is currently embarking on the development of an ICT Strategy and future road map to improve our operating model, including support and sustainment, as well as monitoring our technology platforms and applications.

Our Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in service management, problem resolution, incident management, release and change management, change control and stakeholder and relationship management. 

We are looking for a collaborator who will be able to understand the needs of our varied stakeholders and produce results according to their requirements. The right person for this role will show the flexibility to respond to the changing context and shifting priorities of our stakeholders and the agility to realign resourcing to meet that new demand. As someone who is interested in self-development, you will be resourceful in learning about the JSSD business outcomes and keeping your knowledge current and relevant which will enable you to provide solutions to complex issues. 

You will need to possess relevant and recently employed skills to assist development of a range of enterprise level ICT applications such as “CadetNet” to support the ADF Cadet Program and the Reserve capability. You will also have strong written and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to assist with the documentation of processes and procedures.
