The Role

CIOG is seeking a highly skilled Director – Deployed Information and Communications Technology (D-ICT). This position delivers high profile capability realisation, in-service sustainment, and enterprise-level governance work in support of Defence’s D-ICT network environments. Responsible and accountable for all aspects of D-ICT service delivery management, the position requires proven skills in communications, program management, stakeholder engagement and leadership. The ability to quickly build and maintain trusted relationships with D-ICT counterparts across Defence and industry is also a key aspect of this exciting leadership opportunity.

As the Director D-ICT, you will manage a multi-disciplinary team responsible for a range of business functions including enterprise ICT governance, resource planning, budget forecasting and allocation, business process design, capability realisation and facilities management to achieve D-ICT capability outcomes for Defence. As the CIOG program lead for enterprise-wide D-ICT environments and services, you will directly support the Commander of Defence Strategic Communications with the review, development, sponsorship and management of major and minor governance and service delivery management initiatives to deliver a fully integrated D-ICT program.

About our Team

You will have the ability to think strategically, interpret policy, apply judgement and manage competing priorities to achieve complex program outcomes. You will apply relevant Defence policy frameworks and guidelines for capability development, program management and procurement, demonstrating high standards of ICT program management and enterprise governance. You will have a sound understanding of ICT service delivery management and a demonstrated track record of leading, mentoring and developing a high performing, integrated APS, ADF and contractor team. You will have the ability to manage dynamic, and at times, competing priorities in close collaboration with counterpart CIOG Directors, industry partners and D-ICT capability managers from across Defence.

Our Ideal Candidate
The D-ICT Directorate is a growing team of APS, ADF and contracted industry partners centralised in Canberra, ACT with smaller presences in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. The team manages the development of existing enterprise wide D-ICT capabilities and sponsors an integrated capability development improvement program of work to develop, deliver, support and sustain D-ICT systems under a common, enterprise-level governance and service delivery framework. The Director position is Canberra-based.

The team provides specialist, enterprise and domain-specific D-ICT knowledge to:

  • Oversee the delivery of all aspects of D-ICT in-service support and governance
  • Provide holistic, enterprise-level D-ICT direction, guidance and support to domain specific Service Delivery Organisations and sponsoring capability managers,
  • Manage all aspects of service delivery provided by D-ICT industry partners,

Provide commercial services support for the work take on of new D-ICT services through survey and quote or contract change proposal processes.
