The Role
A Geospatial Specialist working as part of the Littoral Sensing & Processing Science and Technology Capability (STC) you will develop innovative scientific techniques for rapid survey and assessment, in order to meet program goals.

To perform the role you will need:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop geospatial topographic and bathymetric models, including digital elevation and digital surface models, from field measurement;
  • Demonstrated ability to perform surface characterisation of topographic and bathymetric models including geological characterisation of ground surface type;
  • Demonstrated ability to operate, manage and optimise geospatial database systems; - Demonstrated ability to engage, liaise and coordinate with DSTG stakeholders, industry and academia;
  • Demonstrated ability to publish scientific and trials reports;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical and strategic issues, build relations;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage in land/sea trials for testing, validation and modelling of the developed scientific techniques for Defence applications;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide sound scientific advice and support to both internal and external partners.

About our Team
The Littoral Sensing and Processing (LSP) Group undertakes research in airborne optical/SONAR payload systems integration, advanced sensing and smart signal processing for maritime applications. It employs innovative multi-rotor airborne optical remote sensing and autonomous underwater vehicle acoustic payload system in a littoral environment.

Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an enthusiastic and accomplished research scientist or engineer to fill this senior role. You must have specialised knowledge in geospatial data acquisition, modelling and analysis.

Also, you will collaborate with leading scientists and engineers with both internal and external partners to create, build and sustain LSP capability.

This senior role will require you to be able to effectively communicate complex technical and scientific issues, and work under pressure to meet tight and changeable deadlines. In addition, you will be require to publish both internal and external scientific papers that are relevant to the LSP Group work program.
