The opportunity:

As the Chief Risk and Assurance Officer you will be a thought leader in the areas of risk, audit, assurance and integrity within Cenitex. The role will establish a risk and assurance framework for the organisation and direct the implementation and monitoring of policies, standards, plans and programs of work.You and your team will provide the future direction and governance of the organisation in line with standards required of a public sector entity while working closely with the Chief Information Security Officer.

What you'll be involved in:

The Chief Risk and Assurance Officer will provide risk and assurance guidance to executive leadership within the organisation by recommending actions which manage risk and assure the compliance, quality and effectiveness of key functions while working closely with the organisation's Chief Information Security Officer. Additionally you will  provide advice on all matters risk and assurance to the Cenitex Board and Audit and Risk Committee.

Key Accountabilities

  • Drive risk and assurance strategies and practices through a program of actions to ensure a modern and effective line of defence for addressing risk.
  • Lead the design, development, implementation and ongoing enhancement of risk and assurance frameworks including governance policies, procedures and initiatives in collaboration with internal and external specialists and services.
  • Coordinate audit and regulatory inquiries activities to ensure risks are managed and mitigated to protect the interests of Cenitex and its customers.
  • Participate in leading industry forums and consortiums to represent business interests and set standards/practices.
  • Provide expert advice on risk and assurance to the Executive Leadership Team, Audit and Risk Committee, customer stakeholder and business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other risk and assurance leaders within State Government to deliver initiatives in line with the Victorian Government Risk Management framework. Represent Cenitex and the interest of all its customers in any matters relating to risk and assurance.
  • Develop and lead the capability uplift and workforce planning across risk and assurance skills development and build a strong risk and assurance culture and awareness within Cenitex through education and training initiatives.
  • Leadership of Cenitex response to integrity related matters.
  • The role will work extensively with senior stakeholders the CenITex Board, Audit and Risk Committee and customers representing the organisation in high level forums.

A successful candidate would benefit from having previous experience within a large corporate IT environment or IT Assurance Consultancy role.

Education and Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline including law or auditing will be well regarded.
Expert knowledge and connection with relevant industry bodies including the Australian Risk Policy Institute.
