NBN CO has announced the first 1000 premises can connect to its fibre-to-the-curb services.

The services are available to premises in Coburg, Victoria and Miranda, New South Wales.

NBN Co’s FTTC network will see services delivered in selected areas over new fibre all the way to a telecom pit close to the premises and existing copper lines used from the pit to the premises.

“The FTTC network is being designed to deliver access to wholesale speeds of up to 100/40Mbps to retail service providers,” NBN Co said in a statement.

The company says it has the potential to offer higher speeds via new copper acceleration technology G.fast, which will launch in selected areas this year.
