Head of IT

 

Rombola Family Farms encompasses over 4,000 hectares of intensive irrigated horticultural production at Griffith (NSW), Bundaberg (QLD) and Mataranka (NT). Agricultural enterprises include Seedless Watermelon, Rockmelons, Broccoli, Pumpkin, Almonds and Winegrapes. Operations include primary production, processing, value adding and marketing. 

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Head of IT to join our team in Griffith, NSW. Responsible for leading our IT team and continued implementation of Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O). The ideal candidate will drive the implementation and optimisation of D365 F&O, while leveraging Agtech solutions to enhance our operational efficiency, sustainability, and innovation in agriculture. 

Key Responsibilities:

  •  ERP System Leadership:
    • Lead the implementation, customisation, and continuous improvement of Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) to support our financial, supply chain, and operational needs.
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define requirements and configure D365 F&O to optimise business processes and workflows.
  • Application Management:
    • Oversee the integration, management, and support of Agtech applications and solutions (e.g., precision agriculture, farm management software) to improve farming practices, productivity, and sustainability.
    • Evaluate and recommend Agtech solutions that align with business objectives and contribute to our competitive advantage in the agriculture sector with real time reporting 
  • IT Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and execute IT strategies and roadmaps that align with organisational goals, including digital transformation initiatives in agriculture and food production.
    • Ensure IT hardware infrastructure, systems, and applications are secure, scalable, and compliant with industry standards and regulations.
  • IT Team Leadership and Management:
    • Build and lead a high-performing IT team, providing direction, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
    • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the IT department and across business functions.
  • Vendor and Stakeholder Management:
    • Manage relationships with ERP implementation partners, Agtech vendors, consultants, and service providers to ensure successful delivery of projects and services.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., operations, finance, agronomy) to prioritize IT projects and initiatives based on business needs and strategic priorities.
  • Budget Management:
    • Develop and manage the IT department budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
    • Monitor IT expenditures related to D365 F&O and Agtech solutions, optimising costs while maintaining service levels and operational efficiency.
  • Risk Management and Compliance:.
    • Implement and maintain robust security measures and disaster recovery plans to protect IT infrastructure, data assets, and agricultural operations.

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in information technology, computer science or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a senior IT leadership role, with expertise in large ERP systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in implementing and managing, including customisation, integration, and support.
  • A forward-thinking mindset with a passion for innovation and technology, and can-do attitude.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence decision-making at the executive level.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility in hours worked to achieve operational targets.
  • A current driver’s licence.

Who we are?

Rombola Family Farms is a large scale, progressive, privately owned horticultural business based 20kms North of Griffith, NSW.  The company operates a counter-seasonal operation at Mataranka in the Northern Territory enabling us to supply our melon and pumpkin customers year-round.
