Network Security Engineer

Ways of working 

Ideally, we prefer someone at our Sunshine Coast headquarters, but we're also considering Fortitude Valley.  

If you're based in Brisbane, you'll need to commute to HQ at least three times a week.  

Key priorities 

  • Engineer, deploy, oversee, and enhance Youi’s network and endpoint security infrastructure.  
  • Define and establish operational security requirements.  
  • Architect and document detailed security infrastructure based on industry best practices.  
  • Establish and maintain operational security standards, procedures, and guidelines.  
  • Monitor and ensure the reliability and availability of security technologies, including managing device updates and troubleshooting.  
  • Create and improve technical solutions and tools for managing security vulnerabilities and automating tasks.  
  • Handle and communicate network security incidents to stakeholders based on their sensitivity and importance.  
  • Produce comprehensive reports detailing findings, outcomes, and recommendations for advancing infrastructure security.  
  • Effectively communicate with diverse customers and stakeholders and collaborate with vendors and technical support services. 

About you 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, accompanied by experience as a Security Engineer (3+ years is a general indicator).  
  • Possession of an Information Security Certification (such as ISC2, SANS, Palo Alto, or F5) is highly advantageous.  
  • Extensive hands-on experience in configuring and maintaining security infrastructure, including next-generation firewalls, intrusion detection systems, web application firewalls, authentication systems, log management, and content filtering. 
  • Expertise in systems engineering, integration, management, and data networking, with a strong focus on implementing ICT integrations within an enterprise environment. 
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing Next-Generation Firewalls (especially Palo Alto), Web Application Firewalls (especially F5 WAF), and Secure Web Gateways or Proxies (experience with Cloud Platforms preferred). 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and PKI is highly desirable. 
  • Demonstrated capability to analyse and resolve complex issues. 
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively through written and oral channels, including skills in process development, report writing, and operational plan development. 
  • Ability to prioritise deliverables according to budget, deadlines, and project priorities. 
  • Proficiency in utilising security tools and methodologies to identify and mitigate system vulnerabilities. 
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of network, operating system, and application security. 
  • Proven experience in successfully implementing ICT operational security strategies, policies, plans, procedures, and standards, with the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to projects and services. 
  • Understanding of ICT business processes, including configuration management, incident management, change management, and release management.
