About the Role

The role is intended to support Suncorp Bank which will join the ANZ Group on completion. Completion of ANZ’s acquisition of Suncorp Bank remains subject to legislative amendments by the Queensland Parliament and approval by the Federal Treasurer. Assuming these conditions are satisfied, completion of the acquisition is expected to occur in or around mid-calendar year 2024.

As a Technology Risk Manager supporting Suncorp Bank, you’ll play a key role in helping to provide independent oversight and monitoring of the Suncorp Bank Enterprise Risk Management Framework. The role will support the Suncorp Bank CRO and senior management in assessing the risk management practices across the full lifecycle of technology disciplines including risks associated with third party service providers and business disruption (including cyber risk) and resilience preparedness aligned to regulatory requirements and approved Risk Appetite Statement.

Role Type: 12-month Fixed Term contract
Role Schedule: Full-time, 40hrs/week

What will your day look like?

This role will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Providing guidance and oversight of material change initiatives and trends to form an assessment of emerging digital, technology and data risks
  • Challenging and providing oversight of strategic projects to ensure project risk management disciplines, especially the assessment, escalation and acceptance of significant risks being introduced by projects/technology changes is understood, with a focus on ensuring teams understand how the risks / controls impact business objectives, and/or Divisional risk appetite and risk profiles.
  • Providing review, challenge, and guidance on the resolution of risks caused by using technology as well as monitoring and reporting on progress.
  • Review and challenge the technology related operational risk and compliance activities (such as Operational Risk Assessments, technology controls) ensuring adherence to various Information Technology related policies in place such as Cloud, Data Governance, etc.
  • Support the uplift of operational risk & compliance capability and implementation of frameworks and policy across the division.
  • Provide advice to the business based on insights derived from internal and external data trends and forecasts.
  • Work with Suncorp Bank stakeholders on the development of enhanced risk management frameworks for Technology Risk, Security Risk and Data Governance, ensuring alignment with the Enterprise Risk framework
  • Oversight the Bank’s implementation of the Business Continuity Management Policy, Framework and Standards, and provide subject matter expertise  and advice to support the business.
  • Assess and uplift Suncorp Bank’s approach to Business Continuity to meet the requirements of Operational Resilience under Suncorp Bank’s CPS 230 Operational Risk Management.
  • Drive improvement of Suncorp Bank’s management of Third-Party Risk
  • Develop an approach to improve the capture of Third-Party Risks within Suncorp Bank's risk frameworks and systems. 
  • Contribute to the success of the overall Bank CRO team through contribution to the leadership team and working fluidly on the overall team’s priorities.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Extensive experience in Operational risk and/or Compliance or related disciplines, as well as Technology & Data governance experience, including technology risk management and controls
  • Able to manage priorities and conflicting issues in a professional/risk-based manner
  • Proven analytical skills and evidence-based decision making
  • Proven experience in dealing effectively with senior management.
  • A demonstrated understanding of Enterprise Risk Management, Business Continuity Management, Technology Risk and Third-Party Risk Management.
