The Tasmanian Government is providing funding to Aurora Energy to establish a new NBN training facility  that will provide training for specialist skills arising out of the NBN infrastructure development.

The new facility, part of a $4-million upgrade of the Aurora Training Centre currently underway, will also be available as a proof-of-concept centre for service providers to test new equipment and applications, and will allow contractors to train their workers in new technologies.

Located at Mornington on the eastern shore 15 minutes from Hobart, the Aurora Energy Training Centre has been providing nationally accredited training to line worker apprentices since 1993.

Stage two of the NBN rollout in Tasmania is expected to begin  within the next few months, connecting up to 7000 premises.
