Data hosting company NEXTDC has announced it has commenced site preparation of its P1 Perth Data Centre in Malaga.

The P1 centre has been designed as an enterprise-class cocoation facility, and will be one of the largest independent data centres in the state upon its completion.

NEXTDC CEO Craig Scroggie said the Company was excited about the latest stage in developing NEXTDC’s national footprint.

“P1 is the fifth data centre in NEXTDC’s national network and facilitates our strategic entry to the West Australian market for our next generation data centres.”

The P1 data centre design incorporates energy-saving initiatives including solar and tri-generation plants, in addition to direct free air cooling technology, making use of the cooler night-time and winter air temperatures. P1 is expected to be one of the more efficient data centres in the marketplace, with a targeted PUE of 1.3 or less – significantly more efficient than many sites currently operating across the country.

A unique feature of P1 is its approximately 2,000m2 of dedicated office space that can be made available for customers to utilise as part of their business continuity plans.
