The Department

The Infrastructure Operations Engineer role sits within the Infrastructure Operations team as part of the wider Technology Department as SBS. Based in Artarmon, Sydney, the Operations team provide Infrastructure services and support to the whole of SBS across our Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and AWS cloud environment. 

The Role

As a member of the Infrastructure Operations team, the Infrastructure & Systems Engineer role reports to the infrastructure Team Lead.

The role shares responsibility for the day to day functions to ensure a healthy and capable computing platforms supporting corporate, TV and Radio solutions, across SBS in a hybrid on-prem and cloud environment.

The role also has a strong focus on change and continual improvement including maintenance, upgrades, and working with business stakeholders and project teams to design and implement appropriate solutions. 

Responsibilities include;

• Maintain, monitor and support the infrastructure environment and facilities
• Work with the business and other technical teams the scoping, design, implementation and maintenance of new solutions
• Identify opportunities for improvement and automation
• Ensure appropriate documentation is created and maintained
• Provide 2nd and 3rd level support diagnosing and resolving complex issues
• Share your skills and knowledge with the Operations team
• Follow internal processes and workflows as required

About you

Ideally, you will;

• Be able to work both independently and under direction
• Be outcome focussed and able to think both analytically and laterally
• Have advanced Infrastructure and systems experience in a deadline driven, time critical environment
• Have achieved one or more certifications of MCSE Server, Linux Administration (such as RHCSA), VMware Data Centre Virtualisation and VMware Network Virtualisation (VCP, VCAP) or Nutanix
• Have a demonstrated willingness and ability to adapt to change and learn new skills

Please note that this position has an on-call element.
