Located within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies, The Centre for Data Science is seeking qualified and motivated Research Engineers and Research Scientists to lead its research and development work in Data Science.

These two new positions will form the nucleus of Professor Hugh Durrant-Whyte’s new Data Science research group within the Faculty and will play an essential role in the development of data analytics and machine learning methods and tools for specific short-term scientific projects.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • a Ph.D. in a mathematical/physical science or engineering discipline
  • a demonstrated research track record of international standing
  • a demonstrated commitment to both theoretical and applied research
  • an ability to work as part of a research team including other researchers, technical and academic members of staff, and research students
  • demonstrated potential to work closely with industry in applying research outcomes.

Practical skills in areas such as programming and management of data, and a willingness to engage in training of postgraduates and industry staff will be highly regarded.

The positions are full-time fixed term for two years, subject to completion of a satisfactory probation and confirmation period for new appointees.
