Established in 1995, the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys seek to inspire the people of North Queensland with our achievements both on and off the field. The Cowboys are a cornerstone of the North Queensland community and are committed to promoting the interests of our great region.

This role is based in Townsville at the Hutchinson Builders Centre, the home of the Cowboys, adjacent to Queensland Country Bank Stadium.

About the Role

We seek an experienced IT Support Specialist. This role is hands-on and the first point of contact for the delivery of exemplary IT support across the Cowboys Group (Cowboys Rugby League Football Club, NRL Cowboys House and the Cowboys League Club).

This role supports the efficient administration and daily maintenance of the network, server, and related systems across the group. Reporting directly to the Head of Technology, the IT Support Specialist is integral in the implementation of strategic IT initiatives across the Group.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • IT Support
    • Support technical and service-related deliverables, including managing requests across a range of technologies and business processes.
    • Thorough understanding of ticketing systems and customer service principles.
    • Provide Level 1 & 2 service desk support, in-person and remote, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues and escalating where required.
    • Ability to work unsupervised, as part of a team, and to travel where required to provide technical support to the Cowboys group.
    • Responsible for the creation, maintenance and updating of technical information for auditing and asset management purposes.
    • Assist the Head of Technology with the implementation, maintenance and monitoring of Cowboys IT network and server Infrastructure.
    • Responsible for the undertaking and completing of IT Projects as requested.
    • Work proactively with the Head of Technology to identify opportunities for improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
    • Assist the Head of Technology with the implementation of Cybersecurity improvements and staff e-learning pathways.
  • Other
    • Participation in team meetings, events, and conferences.
    • Follow any reasonable request to undertake other areas of work and/or training.
    • Commit to maintaining health, safety and security standards and principles, both within our own workplace and through the identification of potential risks throughout the business.
    • Demonstrate behaviours aligned with the Cowboys group values.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Information Technology or a related field.
  • Driver's Licence (required)
  • Blue Card (required)
  • At least 3 years experience in level 1-2 IT support or similar roles.
  • Experience in the management of network switch configurations such as Cisco, or relevant knowledge of networking principles and techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows server and desktop environments, and Office 365 Suite, including SharePoint.
  • Previous experience in Server or network administrative roles (highly desirable).
  • Working with teams to build and grow IT services and deliver project outcomes.
