Analysts have revealed a lag in pay rises for tech workers.

Employment Hero, a jobs data analysis firm, has reported a stagnation in tech salaries and a notable decline in job vacancies.

The Employment Hero SME Index, based on insights from over 150,000 small and medium-sized businesses and 1.5 million employees, reportedly found a marginal decrease in the median hourly rate for tech workers from $57.20 to $57.12 over the past year.

While pay rates across various sectors have seen an upward trend of at least 6 per cent annually, the tech industry appears to be an outlier.

Employment Hero considers the downturn to be a correction phase, with data indicating a 32.2 per cent year-on-year decrease in job ads within the information and communication technology industry.

Tech bosses say they are seeing more candidates with elevated salary expectations, particularly those previously employed by Silicon Valley firms.

Despite the challenges, certain skills, including cybersecurity, data science, and artificial intelligence, continue to command a premium.
